FUBAR is an American show about the CIA’s fiery spy duo. And curiously enough the father Luke (Arnold Schwarzenegger) and daughter Emma (Monica Barbaro) are two fierce spies.
Their professions as secretive undercover agents have severely damaged their personal as well as professional lives. So, what happens, when the duo go on a secret spy mission?

Apt title
This FUBAR (fouled up beyond all recognition) word is derived from the “furchtbar” (means awful) – a German word. This military terminology was commonly used during World War II to describe a mission that had been severely messed up or an event that was complete chaos. In the context of this action-comedy serial, most likely, the FUBAR slang stands for “fucked up beyond all recognition” and/or “fucked up beyond all repair” in popular parlance of the present day and age. So, the title of this show seems apt.
About the light-hearted screenplay
Both the leading spies – the father and the daughter are almost always at loggerheads, even during their spy missions. So, one could say that the spy duo of Father and Daughter are fluffed beyond any recognition in this show. And that kind of scenario only adds to the many humourous situations in this light-hearted screenplay.
Arnold Schwarzenegger makes a debut
This series marks the debut of Arnold in the world of series. Notably, in the action scenes, Arnold delivers. He has still got it. However, one should take into consideration that he is well past his prime (action age) of yesterday years. For us, it is more of a story about the spies and their flawed family lives, rather than the action-adventure-thriller. We just wished it to be a much funnier and action-filled show. Hopefully, its creator will do so in its second season, in case that is in the future pipeline. They need to tap into Arnold’s talents.
A lot of scope for improvement
This serial marks the entry of veteran action star Arnold Schwarzenegger into the world of the series. We believe that its creator should have chosen a much tighter and funnier script for the Schwarzenegger. While watching it, we felt that the comedic scenes often failed to deliver his usual knockout punch.
The conclusion
When we saw actors – Arnold Schwarzenegger and Tom Arnold in this thrilling series, it reminded me of their “True Lies” (1994) movie. That action-packed spy drama was in the same genre and almost had a familiar storyline. We think this action-packed spy drama series is a complete time pass and marathon (binge) watch.
