Delhi Crime 3: Is It Most Thrilling One?

The Delhi Crime 3 series, or the Delhi Crime (Season 3, India, 2025) Hindi show, has been marketed as the most thrilling season by its makers. Is it really so? Well, continue reading this article and find that out.

Thankfully, we have seen the first two seasons of the award-winning Delhi Crime series in the past. So, perhaps we can answer that for you.

In FOCUS: Inspired by India’s Real-Life Human-Trafficking Cases from Eastern States to Delhi

Series Synopsis

Inspired by both real and fictional events, this series follows a police force as they investigate high-profile crimes in Delhi.

The tragic real-life case of Baby Falak from the capital city has loosely inspired season 3 of Delhi Crime. Moreover, it also draws inspiration from some of the prominent ladies (dons) criminals, Sonu Punjaban, Saira Begum, etc., managing organised human trafficking crimes in the NCR and nearby states.

Human-Trafficking

In India, the human trafficking criminal network is thriving because of the apathetic governments (state and central) and widespread corruption. However, this series does not really scratch beneath the surface of Indian society. However, it briefly touches upon the issues in passing. For instance, it talks about the lopsided gender ratio in Haryana and Rajasthan states. Therefore, the young girls from the Eastern states of Jharkhand, Bihar, etc, are trafficked to the rural areas of these states. Then, there are cases of demands from the Red-lights areas in the Metros. Now, they are supplying to international buyers too.

So, kudos to its writers (named below) for focusing on and highlighting this grave issue in Indian society. As the end credits in the third season finale revealed the following number of missing females in India, mentioned below.

In India, 293500/- females were reported missing in 2022.
(National Crime Records Bureau Report, Crime in India, 2022)

On the other hand, these writers have taken a lot of creative liberties with the way the police departments work. For instance, the transfer of an IPS Officer belonging to the Union Territory cadre. And what about staying at Circuit House instead of a seedy Private Hotel in Rohtak?

They also overlook the jurisdiction of the Delhi Police in other states. We could make little sense of the crime scene at Surat. This Indian police procedural drama needs to tighten the script further. They do not need to look anywhere else. Perhaps the high-quality screenplay of its season 1 can work as their reference point.

N-E India & N-W India

To be blunt, it is no longer the so-called “Delhi Crime” series as it expands its operation. We shall give you a few reasons.

Firstly, the female protagonist, DIG Vartika Chaturvedi (Shefali Shah), has been transferred from the capital city Delhi to Assam, in the North Eastern state of India. During one of her routine police checkups in Sichar, Vartika came across the case of missing young girls.

Secondly, the female antagonist, Meena (Huma Qureshi), is the lady-kingpin running the international human (young girls) trafficking network in India. Not many people (and even the cops) are aware that Meena is running this secret crime operation from Haryana.

Thirdly, the actual crime originates in the North-Eastern state. And, soon enough, senior police official Vartika kicks start the search operation for the kidnapped young girls. It follows the familiar “chor-police drama” (robbers-cops drama) across different states, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, etc.

Fourthly, we learn that the DIG Vartika is leading an STF (Special Task Force) of the familiar Delhi Police team of officials from the past two seasons. And, both she and her dedicated STF team will leave no stone unturned to find the abducted young ladies, as well as catch the criminals involved in it.

Therefore, in all seriousness, it should be called “India Crime” indeed.

Cast & Characters

🚨Notably, this Indian crime drama is female-centric in its content. The Delhi Police team is led by two high-ranking senior (Madam Sir) IPS lady officials. And they are chasing a notorious human trafficking gang led by a “Badi Didi”, whose identity is not known to the cops.

🚨Once more, the Delhi Police team is superbly led by three senior and seasoned artists, viz., Shefali Shah (Vartika Chaturvedi), Rasika Dugal (Neeti Singh), and Rajesh Tailang (Bhupendra Singh). Across three seasons, we have grown used to their calm and assured presence of these three reel-cops. They are good, again.

🚨Not to forget, the junior-ranked official of the Delhi Police team, namely, Jaya Bhattacharya (Vimla Bhardwaj), Gopal Datt (Sudhir Kumar), Sidharth Bhardwaj (Gopal Datt), etc. All of them played their supporting roles quite well, one more time.

🚨Now, let us talk about the human trafficking gang operating out of Haryana. This dangerous and trigger-happy female antagonist kingpin is portrayed by versatile Huma Qureshi (Meena), admirably. Only a few days ago, we watched her play a strong, protagonist woman politician in the “Maharani” series.

🚨We also liked the performances of Sayani Gupta (Kusum), Sano Di Nesh (Vijay), Mita Vashisht (Kalyani), Anshumaan Pushkar (Rahul), etc. All of them are associated with Meena’s crime network.

🚨And it was good to see Kelly Dorji (John Gupta) on-screen after so many years. And most of the ensemble cast played the victims in this crime drama. However, they did not have much to do in this series. Except for Aditi Subedi and Celesti Bairagey. They played small but impactful roles in the show.

Conclusion

So, is Delhi Crime 3 the most thrilling season? As the above poster claims. Well, it is the most ambitious (almost) pan-India crime story. However, finally, to answer the original query honestly, we do not really think so. Especially when we compare it with the top-notch Season 1 of the Delhi Crime series. But then, the Nirbhaya case (of Season 1) was one of the most horrific crime cases in the history of the Delhi Police.

And that real-life case (of Season 1) has shaken the core of humanity and national consciousness in India. So, we think it is a smart and interesting marketing strategy by the team at Netflix.

The season finale ending was quite satisfactory, as the show managed to neatly tie up all the stories.

To conclude, as a stand-alone drama with only 6 episodes, we think Season 3 of Delhi Crime is worth binge-watching on any weekend or holiday.
