“Mission Impossible – The Final Reckoning” Is A Typical Tom Cruise MI Action Flick, As He Stylishly Saves Humankind From A Super-Powerful AI Machine

Spoiler Free Review of the Mission Impossible – The Final Reckoning (2025/USA) Movie

The introduction

Incidentally, the first “Mission Impossible” movie was released almost three decades ago, in 1996. The lead actor, Tom Cruise, was 33 years old at that time. So far, a total of eight Mission Impossible movies have been released. And the eighth and the latest “Mission Impossible – The Final Reckoning” (2025) movie was released one month before Tom Cruise’s 63rd birthday. However, in the said movie, his character Ethan Hunt is 60 years old. But it seems that even after thirty years, global star Tom Cruise has not aged a bit. Definitely, for him, the age is just a number. More so when he is performing breathtaking stunts.

A cautionary tale, where an AI (called the Entity) is the villain

Welcome to the age of Information Technology (IT) and Cyberspace. We have heard in the past and even in present times that the highly intelligent machines, something like the AI supercomputer, might change the world around us. These days, we have been hearing so much about the emergence of Artificial Intelligence (AI) around the world. Nowadays, AI has already started taking over jobs from humans. Therefore, it is not hard to imagine what kind of future exists when an all-powerful AI threatens to take over and control the world.

And this is where the IMF agent, Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) and his small team of agents take charge to defeat the formidable AI (Entity), before it is too late. The movie depicts a race against time and geographical area, by Ethan and his team, to destroy the Entity and save the world. It is a relevant wake-up call tale.

Tom Cruise is on top of his game, once again

One more time, in these action-packed, thrilling spy movies, the leading IMF agent Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) criss-crosses around the world. As he and his dedicated team members try to save the world from the bad guys and the dangerous AI machines. As the movie title suggests, almost all of his spy operations are kind of suicidal missions. Therefore, we get to watch a fair amount of jaw-dropping stunt scenes and frantic-paced action sequences. We especially liked the use of life-like face masks. Besides, there are quite a few mind-boggling and spectacular stunt scenes, but the parachute scene is simply extraordinary.

Among the other members of the ensemble cast, we liked watching Hayley Atwell (Grace), Ving Rhames (Luther Stickell), Simon Pegg (Benji Dunn), Pom Klementieff (Paris), Esai Morales (Gabriel), etc. The entire team of stunts and fight scenes also deserve a round of applause and appreciation.

The conclusion

Now, it is hard to believe that it is the end of the road for the MI team. But the MI team will find a way back to its massive fan base, one way or another. Thankfully, this movie solved the two-decade-old mystery of the Rabbit’s Foot, which we heard for the first time in MI3. Furthermore, we loved the fact that this movie brings back memories from the past. It has extensively used the flashback footage from previous MI movies. All in all, it was a fitting finale to the Mission Impossible movie franchise. We liked watching this thrilling action packed entertaining film.
