The introduction

Just like a big school bus, this movie starts at a slow and steady pace. However, as soon as the news about the raging wildlife fire began to spread, the bus, as well as the movie, gained a frantic pace. And soon enough, the angry and unstoppable wildfire turns into a violent inferno. And, it becomes a survival issue.

Actually, as we mentioned earlier, this disaster movie is based on factual events. In fact, the 2018 Camp Fire is recognised as the deadliest wildfire in California’s history. Not only did this hellfire destroy valuable properties, but it also took the precious lives of many people.

Given the context, the true grit of Kevin and Mary must be applauded.

They went beyond their call of duty.

The writers & director has done a wonderful job

We have always admired the work of Paul Greengrass. To be honest, we have primarily known him as a director who directed the movies, like The Bourne Supremacy (2004), The Bourne Ultimatum (2007), Captain Philips (2013), Jason Bourne (2016), etc. And now he is back with The Lost Bus (2025/USA) movie. Both Paul and his entire production team must be appreciated for recreating the real-life wildfire disaster for this realistic movie. While watching it, this life-like movie makes one feel as if one is surrounded by the deadly fire. This kind of immersive movie experience makes one pray and cheer for Kevin, Mary and 22 kids.

Both Matthew and America are fascinating to watch

Once again, the lead actor, Matthew McConaughey, portrayed the bus driver Kevin McKay in his own indomitable style. He really brings alive the emotional and personal turmoil of the character to the screen. Although America Ferrera has less screen time than Matthew in this film, she is equally good. She performed very well and perfectly played the character of a loyal and hard-working school teacher, Mary Ludwig. She was not going to leave the 22 kids behind, come hell or high water. Both of them raised the level of this film with their likeable performances. The rest of the ensemble cast also did well in their limited roles.

To conclude, watch it or skip it?

So, The Lost Bus (2025/USA) Movie, Watch it or Skip it? We think it is a good and uplifting film about saving innocent kids. it is certainly good for at least one time viewing. Especially in times when angelic kids are being killed indiscriminately in the ongoing one-sided wars. Maybe it will rekindle the lost humanity in all of us.

Lastly, we leave you all the famous words of Chief Martinez, who loudly said in the film, “We’re being damn fools, that’s the truth.” Think hard and think deeply.
