Spoiler Free Review: Wednesday (Season 2/USA/2025) Series
Indeed, the Season 2 is the death of me – Wednesday
In the second season, this coming-of-age kids’ supernatural fantasy tale takes a dark turn towards adulthood for the so-called outcast kids. Some anonymous foes of hers are threatening to take the life of her roommate. Besides, someone unknown is trying to destroy and tear apart her small Addams family. So, in the midst of facing such a hostile environment, the protagonist comes close to not only losing her psychic powers but also her precious life. How will she fight back? Especially, when the odds are heavily stacked against her? That is the crux of the second season theme.
And as usual, the sharp and funny dialogues (including dark and macabre humour) continue to be hilariously entertaining. We love the crackling exchange of dialogue between Wednesday and the other characters in the show. Despite its deathly environment, the dark humour wins the scenes. And that is good fun.
Season One of Wednesday was aimed at kids, with its certification of UA 13+. Season Two of Wednesday has gone darker, with its content being targeted at UA 16+. These audience members are slightly older. Notably, this show is loved by people of almost all groups belonging to different ages.
This magical tale adds more twists, turns, unexpected layers and a bunch of fascinating characters
The coming-of-age story not only touches Wednesday (Jenna Ortega), but it also sneaks onto the vivid and vivacious roommate Enid Sinclair (Emma Myers). As both of them discover more about her hidden superpowers. Moreover, the origin story of the ‘Thing’ (Victor Dorobantu) is finally revealed. In addition, we are introduced to a new student with magical power, Agnes Demille, aka Vanisher (Evie Templeton). She adds a fourth angle to Wednesday’s small group of close friends. The people whom she can trust.
Not to forget, the Nevermore Academy lost the lovely Principal Larissa Weems (Gwendoline Christie) under tragic circumstances in the first season. Yet, Weems is back as a guiding spirit, thankfully! However, in the second season, the Academy get a new colourful Principal Dort (Steve Buscemi). He seems to be an enigmatic personality and harmless. But who is he really – a hero or a bad guy? Also, the show has a usual bunch of old villainous characters. Then add a few new nefarious players in the mix in season two. We will not be revealing more, as it might ruin the surprises in store for you all.
Its is good to meet almost all the known members of the famous Addams family
In a welcome sign, the members of the famous Addams family play a far greater role in the second season. The younger brother of Wednesday, Pugsley Addams (Isaac Ordonez), gets enrolled in Nevermore Academy as a full-time student. Besides, her parents, mother Morticia Addams (Catherine Zeta-Jones) and father Gomez Addams (Luis Guzmán), stay back at the Academy campus. Moreover, we also meet her grandmother, Grandmama Hester Frump (Joanna Lumley). She is a feisty, old, and wealthy lady. And not to be left behind, her infamous Uncle Fester (Fred Armisen) always turns up whenever Wednesday needs him by her side.
Mind you, this is still a show dominated by Wednesday. But the helping hands of her family members are always around. Whenever she needs them, they are there. However, the real question remains: can all of them together defeat their formidable enemies? The one who has come back from the past to haunt them?
To conclude, we loved the show, once more time
The entire ensemble cast, the guest stars and the main stars have been impressive. In fact, the entire team has done a fabulous job, once again. We enjoyed the second season too. It has many layers and unforeseen depths in its storyline. And the cliff-hanger ending has got us addicted to this show. Can’t wait for more.
We realise that the wait for the third season will be Nevermore Academy torturous for its avid fans. But then, the Bad things come in threes. Isn’t it? Right? Okay!
