Series Review [Spoiler-Free]: “The Lincoln Lawyer” (Season 4, 2026)
The Fourth Season Is About Mickey’s Dogged Fight For Saving His Life & Reputation
Series Synopsis
In the first three seasons of “The Lincoln Lawyer” series, we have seen that the idealistic LA defence attorney Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) will do whatever it takes to win. As he navigates the criminal justice system in his trademark Lincoln automobiles. Intriguingly, in the Season 3 finale cliff-hanger scene, Mickey Haller is stopped by a local police official for a vehicle search. And soon after, the police official discovers the dead body of Sam Scales (Christopher Thornton) in the trunk of Mickey’s Lincoln Continental classic car.
Now, Season 4 starts with Mickey in prison, waiting for his trial regarding Sam’s murder. The latest season of this series is much more personal in nature. As it mainly focuses on how Micky, his family members, friends, colleagues, and others react to the grave news of his imprisonment. Moreover, as Micky bravely fights for his freedom and reputation in court-room battle grounds, only his family and law firm colleagues stand in his corner. In other words, Mickey undergoes a trial for a murder he did not commit. While the world simply looks on.
Besides, Micky must face a determined District Attorney Dana Berg (Constance Zimmer) in court. As he smartly fights a legal battle to establish his innocence, expose the actual killer, and defend his law firm in a captivating courtroom battle.
So, in the end, will Mickey Haller and his small legal team be able to demonstrate that he has been wrongfully accused of murder?
And, how is he going to prove in the courtroom that he is innocent and not guilty?
What’s Good?
✅ In the first three seasons, we witnessed the phenomenal and envious rise of the defence lawyer, Micky Haller. No wonder, along the way, as he moved upward, he created quite a few powerful enemies. And one of the foes clearly sets him up for the murder in Season 4. That is a cruel conspiracy, indeed.
✅ We liked the trajectory of the story, when Micky faces one of the biggest crises in his family and professional life. So, the legal drama takes a more personal turn for Micky Haller, his family, and friends. Thankfully, they are in it together. And everyone chips in, especially the ladies.
✅ So, be prepared to watch more of Maggie McPherson (Neve Campbell), Lorna Crane (Becki Newton), Izzy Letts (Jazz Raycole), Dennis “Cisco” Wojciechowski (Angus Sampson), and David “Legal” Siegel (Elliott Gould), in the legal drama. In a way, the Ladies Lawyers dominate the courtroom battle grounds.
✅ Manuel Garcia-Rulfo plays the hero, Mickey Haller, in his charming and smart ways, once again. But this time, his character Micky is in a vulnerable state. A lot is at stake, and he has far too much lose. So, with his back against the wall, he is fighting mysterious but powerful enemies.
✅Especially, in this season, we liked the performances of Manuel Garcia-Rulfo, Neve Campbell, Becki Newton, Angus Sampson, Jazz Raycole, Constance Zimmer, Scott Lawrence, and others. The scenes in the courtroom were engrossing to watch.
Series Poster

“If you look back at the (The Lincoln Lawyer) show, it’s taken this very clear trajectory from a redemption story of a guy (Micky) flying too close to the sun to being haunted by the sins of the past and now having all kinds of enemies he’s made conspire in a way to bring him down. Season 4 almost takes us full circle back to a guy… feeling like he has to redeem himself again.”

Who is the actual killer of Sam Scales in The Lincoln Lawyer [S4] Series?
In the final episode, we learn that Gazarian and his Armenian Family Gang had Sam eliminated and framed Mickey in the process by putting his dead body in the trunk of Mickey’s car. However, the true motive for the murder was not what Mickey believed it to be.
After Gazarian is killed, two of his fellow mobsters throw him from a hotel window due to their dissatisfaction with the media attention surrounding Sam’s murder. To escape the mobsters, Gazarian’s girlfriend, Jeanine, goes into hiding with Cisco, who hopes to convince her to aid in Mickey’s case.
While they are in hiding, Jeanine explains to Maggie the real reason, as to why Gazarian had Sam killed.
Actually, Gazarian did know that Sam had been in contact with the FBI.
In fact, his anger was due to discovering that Sam had been siphoning money from their biofuel operation. As Gazarian realised that Sam was scamming him and stealing his previous money.
“Sam was scamming the scammers.”

In the season 4 finale, what’s the verdict of Mickey’s courtroom trial? Is he guilty or not guilty?
With Gazarian deceased, Mickey’s sole opportunity to establish his innocence in court hinges on persuading Jeanine to testify. Unfortunately, that is not a viable option. She fears retribution from the mobsters responsible for her boyfriend’s death. And Mickey and Maggie are unable to adequately safeguard her in return for her testimony. Therefore, with assistance from Lorna and Izzy’s new partner, Grace, Mickey deceives his way into obtaining Jeanine’s protection from the district attorney’s office by persuading the FBI that she intends to testify, which would jeopardise their investigation.
In the end, a forceful intervention by the offices of the FBI and the District Attorney prevented the courtroom trial of Mickey Haller in the final episode. So, his murder trial did not reach its logical conclusion.
Instead, the parties concerned reached the out of court settlement in the judge’s private chamber.
Mickey was considered not guilty by the law enforcement agencies.
And Mickey’s reputation was restored.

In the season 4 finale, another shocking and cliff-hanger ending?
After earning his hard-fought freedom against the formidable foes, Mickey decides to celebrate in his own way. So he picks up his blue Lincoln Continental car and drives around in a carefree manner. Then, being a foodie, he stops at a store to purchase groceries for a home-cooked meal.
While there in the supermarket, he spots a mysterious woman, portrayed by Cobie Smulders, gazing at him. As he walks back to his car, she approaches him, and just as she is about to introduce herself, gunshots ring out. The woman pushes Mickey down, saving his life. And FBI Agent Ruth arrives to inform him that the Armenian mob is still after him. After some arrests are made, Mickey inquires about the woman’s identity, and she unexpectedly reveals, “Actually, I’m your sister.” Won, another twist in the tale, apparently.

What could be the Season 5 of The Lincoln Lawyer be about? Let’s Guess.
It seems that Season 5 is inspired by the seventh book in The Lincoln Lawyer series, “Resurrection Walk”, by author Michael Connelly.
Brief Plotline
After successfully exonerating a man wrongfully convicted, he is overwhelmed with requests from inmates asserting their innocence. He recruits his half-brother, retired LAPD Detective Harry Bosch, to sift through the correspondence, aware that the majority of claims are likely untrue. Bosch identifies a significant case among the many: a woman imprisoned for the murder of her husband, a sheriff’s deputy, who continues to assert her innocence. Upon reviewing the case, Bosch discovers inconsistencies, while the sheriff’s department is determined to achieve swift justice for the murder of one of their own. Consequently, Mickey Haller faces a formidable challenge in court, akin to David confronting Goliath, as he strives to clear his client’s name.
But what about his half-sister?
Well, we will have to wait to find out about her.
