Bad Sisters: Garvey Sisters Are Wonderful

Bad Sisters

Bad Sisters (S1) is a sweet and spicy Irish dark comedy. It is about the 5 wonderful Garvey sisters, who after the loss of their parents have stuck together through thick and thin.

They always end up supporting each other both during the good as well as bad times. Please note that this show has been adapted from the original Belgian “Clan” series.

Synopsis of the Bad Sisters (S1/2022) Series

This show is a delicious blend of both dark comedy and thriller and I agree. It narrates the complicated lives of the Garvey sisters. After the premature death of their parents, these five sisters are bound together with a promise to always protect each other, even during times of the worst crisis – including the murder of their family member.

When their brother-in-law winds up dead, his life insurers set out to prove malicious intent—and set their sights on the sisters, all of whom had motives. The Garvey sisters have always looked out for each other.

The sisters of the Garvey family

In this series – Sharon Horgan, Anne-Marie Duff, Eva Birthistle, Sarah Greene and Eve Hewson played the fatally charming Garvey sisters with great style; also, Claes Bang enacted his repulsive villainous role perfectly. For a murder-mystery-thriller drama – this black comedy does have some outrageous plot twists. It is worth watching for the strong and tough love – these kinds of bonding among the five Irish blood relatives.

Anne-Marie Duff, Sharon Horgan, Eva Birthistle, Sarah Greene and Eve Hewson (from Left to Right)
A bunch of the lead actors have famous Irish family members. For example, Sharon Horgan is the sister of former Irish rugby player Shane Horgan and Eve Hewson is the daughter of famous U2's Bono.

Its opening scene got us captivated

The opening scene is a tragedy and a dark comedy too. We believe that this sweet comedy and spicy thriller from the United Kingdom will certainly leave you smiling and wanting it more. We loved this series about the strong bonds of sisterhood. Yay for the sisterly unity. And three cheers to the sorority. We believe that – this show is like a good Irish Coffee – an intoxicating coffee drink that one must taste at least one time.

What did we love about this show?

Season one of this series has only ten episodes, so it is a perfect murder show for the marathon watch. After watching this series, we were reminded of this quote – “Having a sister is like having a best friend you can’t get rid of. You know whatever you do, they’ll still be there.” And strangely, we think – “The Garvey Sisters are The Good Sisters, pragmatically, perhaps.” Are we wrong, you tell us after watching it, okay, please?

The conclusion

No doubt, there is a close sibling bond among all the blood kins. They look after the interests of each other, even under the most trying circumstances. And these tragic (and comedic) circumstances in this series are worth at least a view one time. We loved it when we watched it.
