Young Sheldon series came to an end this month. It was a poignant moment for many of its devoted fans, as we bid goodbye to some of our favourite characters in this comedy drama.
This US comedy show is based on the fan favourite character (adult) Sheldon Cooper portrayed by Jim Parsons in the hit ‘The Big Bang Theory‘ series. Therefore, this prequel comedy ‘Young Sheldon’ traces his childhood years. We loved this riotous and critically acclaimed delightful tale of the child (and adult Noble Prize winner) genius.
“Young Sheldon” Series Ends On An Emotional & Bitter-Sweet Note For Its Ardent Fans

Spoiler Free Review: Young Sheldon (Seventh/Final Season/2024) Series
The introduction
We have recently recapped and reviewed the first six seasons of the ‘Young Sheldon‘ (S1 to S6) Show in Focus Magazine. We hope that you all have read and seen the same.
Now, let us proceed with the review of the Seventh (7th/final) season of this series.
Star Trek holds a special place in Sheldon's heart, and he takes immense delight in assuming the persona of Mr. Spock whenever the need arises for a costume. As time passes, it becomes increasingly evident that Sheldon's overall demeanor and individuality are fundamentally rooted in the essence of Spock, transcending the mere act of dressing up.
The storyline/plotline/summary/synopsis
Sheldon Cooper, a brilliant yet socially inept 9-year-old, has surpassed expectations by skipping four grades and entering high school. After the young kid Sheldon enters high school, he leaves his peers puzzled by his intelligence in this spin-off from “The Big Bang Theory” series.
Growing up in East Texas, youngster Sheldon Cooper encounters difficulties due to his exceptional talents in mathematics and science. Because as a young child, he does not quite fit in with the prevailing interests in church and football. As Young Sheldon tries to find his place in the world, his family must also learn how to understand and support him.
Iain Armitage (in NASA T-Shirt), the child actor who portrays Young Sheldon, expressed his dedication to his role as the kid Sheldon. He attributed this commitment to the guidance and explanations provided by Jim Parsons, who portrayed Adult Sheldon.
Therefore, it is as much the origin story of Sheldon, as it is the story of his family members and acquaintances. Mind you, he does not like to make friends in his life.
What did we love in this series?
Please check the picture shared above, it lists the close family members of the child prodigy Sheldon. This Cooper family became an integral part of life during seven seasons, across one-hundred-forty-one episodes.
The creators and writers have done a tremendous job of creating such lovely and believable characters. Their character arcs are worth talking about. Of course, the original The Big Bang Theory series had informed and prepared us about the impending family tragedy. But, still, the loss broke our hearts. The ebb and flow in our lives is a harsh reality. One can not wish them away. The pain must be endured and overcome in our ways. It is a heartwarming and sentimental journey into Sheldon’s childhood. We loved the touching tale.
What else did we love about this series?
We loved the characters of the young kids – Sheldon, Missy and Georgie. They behaved and sounded like kids. However, with time, they all grew up. On the other hand, one cannot say the same thing about Connie ‘Meemaw’ Tucker, whose liberated and unconventional ways endeared her to many fans. The wife Mary Cooper and husband George Cooper Senior looked natural while playing the responsible parents of three kids. Even the late addition (through marriage) of Mandy McAllister seemed seamless, as she fit in nicely with the Cooper family. All of them made us cry, laugh, and get in touch with our childhood nostalgia.
The rest of the ensemble cast – Wyatt McClure (Billy Sparks), Wallace Shawn (Dr. John Sturgis), Matt Hobby (Pastor Jeff Hodgkins), Craig T. Nelson (Coach Dale Ballard), Ed Begley Jr. (Dr. Linkletter), Wendie Malick (President Hagemeyer), Doc Farrow (Coach Wayne Wilkins), Rex Linn (Principal Petersen), etc. made significant contributions to its heartening tale. We loved watching most of them, especially their interactions with the child prodigy Sheldon. It was amusing to see some of these adult people coming to terms with the fact that they are in the company of a gifted and brilliant child – Sheldon.
The conclusion
While watching The Big Bang Theory show, we were often perplexed by the rationality, demeanour, peculiarities and behaviour exhibited by Sheldon. Now after we have finished watching the prequel Young Sheldon series, we are beginning to understand and appreciate his idiosyncrasies. The peek into his childhood days has been moving and exciting time travel into the past. We loved his realistic and passionate childhood memoirs.
