In the Abbott Elementary (S3) series, we are once again sumptuously treated to non-stop entertainment. Both the teaching and non-teaching staff members in this comedy show are getting better with each season.
Also, what can we say and write about Quinta Brunson? Well, firstly she is a hugely talented creator of the smart sitcom. Then, secondly, while playing the role of school teacher Janine Teagues, she is phenomenal.

Spoiler Free Review: Abbott Elementary (S3/2024) Series
The storyline/plotline/summary/synopsis
The story is about a team of committed and enthusiastic teachers working in a Philadelphia public school. These staff members are working under a principal who is a maverick administrator. Despite facing numerous challenges, these teachers remain resolute in their mission to empower their students to achieve success in life. These remarkable educators are deeply passionate about their educational profession. Not only do the school students outnumber teachers but these teachers also lack sufficient resources. In addition, they are not particularly fond of the school district’s less-than-ideal approach to educating children. Yet, they continue to work hard for the young kids.
Teaching staff:- Janine Teagues (Quinta Brunson), Gregory Eddie (Tyler James Williams), Melissa Schemmenti (Lisa Ann Walter), Barbara Howard (Sheryl Lee Ralph), Jacob Hill (Chris Perfetti), &
Principal Ava Coleman (Janelle James).
Non-teaching staff:- Mr Johnson (William Stanford Davis).
The poster
In the logo of Abbott Elementary, the word "Elementary" is featured prominently in written cursive. Nevertheless, Philadelphia public schools have recognized its obsolescence and have chosen not to incorporate it into their curriculum anymore.
We loved the intelligent script of the series
This comedy show highlights the numerous issues and various problems that (elementary) schools face in Philadelphia, United States of America. We loved the script of this bold and clever workplace comedy. The spotlight shines on a dedicated group of teachers and a clueless principal working together in a public school. Despite the obstacles they all face in the school, their unwavering goal is to support their students in achieving success. It uses humour and satire to focus on elementary school matters. A beautifully crafted script continues to captivate our attention in its third season.
It is amusing to note that the said show was originally known as Harrity Elementary. Later, the series was renamed Abbott Elementary in honor of Joyce Abbott, an influential elementary school teacher of the show creator Quinta Brunson. Also, it is worth noting that Brunson crafted the series based on her mother's teaching experiences in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Also, we loved the entire ensemble cast of the series
Honestly, we were unaware of the fantastic comedic talent of its ensemble cast, when we first started watching this series. But, they charmed us with their acts. The acting performances and the facial expressions of each one of them are top-class. First, they pull you in with their personal tales. And then they make you emotionally invested in their lives. Their comedic timing is perfect.
If you have been avidly watching this show, then you would appreciate the amazing arc of each of the characters. We have seen each one of them, growing from strength to strength, from the first season to the third season. Each one of them – Janine Teagues (Quinta Brunson), Gregory Eddie (Tyler James Williams), Melissa Schemmenti (Lisa Ann Walter), Barbara Howard (Sheryl Lee Ralph), Jacob Hill (Chris Perfetti), Principal Ava Coleman (Janelle James) and Mr Johnson (William Stanford Davis) are unbelievably good. It seems that all of them are getting better with age, like a fine wine. We loved all the characters. However, if you force us to pick our favourite, then it will be fashionista Principal Ava Coleman. She is brutal and funny, at the same time.
We loved the special but surprising appreance by American comedian and actor, Kevin Hart, in the show. The joke was hilariously funny too.
The conclusion
We waited patiently for the better part of three seasons for their budding (romantic) relationship to develop. And then in the last scene of the final episode of the season, they kissed. Their friendship has taken the definite shape of a love affair. Let us wait and watch. As we do not know what the future holds for the loving pair. We wish to tell you more about them. But, sorry we cannot. Although, we have already given you all a big hint. As it is a spoiler and might affect your viewing pleasure. However, one of the things that we can share is the fact this show has won more than 50 Awards. You can check the details of some of the awards below.
The season finale has made us hopeful about the upcoming fourth season. We enormously enjoyed the series. Now, we eagerly look forward to a few more rub-tickling and thoughtful episodes/seasons in the future.
