Back in Action (2025) movie brings back a lot of nostalgic memories for ardent fans like us. It is always good to see Foxx doing much better health-wise and Diaz reappear on our screen after a decade-long hiatus. Both of them are back doing, what they do best, entertain us in such films.
In April 2023, Jamie Foxx experienced a brain hemorrhage that resulted in a stroke while on set during filming. This critical situation necessitated emergency surgery and an extensive recovery period lasting several months. Ultimately, he made a complete recovery and returned to the set to complete the filming process. Throughout his rehabilitation, he faced the challenge of re-learning how to walk and underwent rigorous speech therapy to restore his verbal abilities. Despite being given only a 5% chance of survival, he remarkably overcame the odds and fully recuperated.

The storyline moves along the predictable path
While watching this typical Hollywood commercial entertainer movie, we realized that we should not try to look for the usual goof-ups. But, we cannot help but notice the various plotholes. Maybe the makers did not pay much attention to the minor details. Anyway, we shall not be discussing those mistakes here. Instead, we shall talk about the positive vibes of this film. This is an okayish kind of action comedy that might remind us of many similar movies from yesterday’s years. As it is almost perfect for time pass leisurely pleasure on any day.
We liked the lead pair of Diaz, Foxx, and their extended family
As we mentioned earlier, Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz portray (the fun-loving) CIA spies in this action comedy-drama. Notably, marking her first cinematic endeavor in 11 years, this film will be Cameron Diaz’s return after her retirement in 2014. Interestingly, her last role was in the film Annie (2014), which also featured Jamie Foxx. So, Back In Action (2025) is the third movie to co-star Jamie Foxx {we last saw him in The Burial (2023) movie} and Cameron Diaz after Any Given Sunday (1999) and Annie (2014).
Both of them have quite a few smart dialogues in this film, and as usual, they are funny, to say the least. For instance, check the following one:
Leo (son): You guys are spies?
Matt: Yeah
Leo: Like Jason Bourne?
Matt: Yes! But we remember things.
Besides the lead pair, and their family members, viz., McKenna Roberts (Alice), Rylan Jackson (Leo), Glenn Close (Ginny), and Jamie Demetriou (Nigel); the other members of the ensemble cast did not have much screen time. Certainly, we would have loved to see more of Andrew Scott.
The conclusion
Like, we said earlier, it was good to see both Foxx and Diaz, Back In Action, literally. It is undoubtedly a completely time-pass movie, that asks you to surrender and enjoy the moment. Without thinking too much. And taxing your brain cells unnecessarily. Simply, enjoy it and wish them luck.
