Eenie Meanie (2025/USA) Movie is a nickname of the female protagonist Edie (Samara Weaving), who is desperately trying her best to get away from the deadly world of crime. But then, her past relationships catch up with her. Thereby, putting her in a very tight spot. Will she risk her future for the sake of her love?

Or has she not learnt any kind of important life lessons from her troubled past? Well, choosing the betrayal option over the friendship option is almost always difficult. But Edie (Samara Weaving) is a smart young woman. So, sooner or later, she is bound to make a rational choice in her life, for a safe and secure future.

The introduction

This “Eenie Meanie” is a fine film that takes a closer look at the lives of two youngsters who were born in poverty. And when they were still teenagers, the world of crime sneaked into their lives. But one of them, Edie (Samara Weaving), managed to get away from the dangerous world of organised crime. However, another one of her friends, John (Karl Glusman), was not so smart. He was completely swallowed by the charms of the easy money of the crimes. Compelled by the circumstances, both of them are sinking deep into the quagmire of unlawful acts. Now, what does the future hold for these two childhood friends and lovers?

Shawn Simmons has written & directed an enjoyable film

The “Eenie Meanie” movie is the feature directorial debut of the writer Shawn Simmons. In the not-so-distant past, he wrote the Wayne (2019) series as well as The Continental (2023) series. Both of these shows were good. But to be frank, this movie did not reach the high standards of these two shows of his. The storyline of the small-time gangsters and petty criminals moves along the familiar and predictable path. To make it a super-entertaining flick, the writer Shawn did try to mash up many genres into one movie. But certainly that did not really help. However, we should not forget the fact that it is his maiden attempt. And we enjoyed watching Shawn’s first movie as a director.

Samara Weaving plays a former teenage getaway driver quite well

A few years ago, we saw Samara in the Scream VI (2023) movie, a successful horror movie franchise from Hollywood. While watching this movie led by the heroine, Edie (Samara Weaving), we could see an appreciable growth in her screen presence and acting performances. For instance, to successfully pull off her role of a getaway driver in this movie, she learned to drive. The car chase scenes are the real highlights of this action film. Among the ensemble supporting cast, we also liked the performances of Karl Glusman (John), Andy Garcia (Nico), and Mike O’Malley (George). However, we did not like the fact that the filmmaker wasted the amazing comic talent of Randall Park in a smallish role of Leo.

The conclusion

With the “Eenie Meanie” movie, its makers did try to recreate a sense of nostalgia and an old-world charm with its colourful characters. And, they were fairly successful. From start to finish, it was a short (almost 1.5-hour) one-time fun ride for us, viewers. Certainly, it was an engrossing film to pass one’s time.
