In this film, Tom Hanks plays the character of a heartbroken and grief-stricken widower Otto Anderson. After his retirement and the baggage of personal loss, he is always angry and ready to pick up fights with almost everyone who comes into contact with him. His sad demeanour has led him to lead a lonely life in a cold corner of an urban set-up.
But, just when he was ready to give up on life, he came across a young and bubbly pregnant mother Marisol (Mariana Treviño), who along with her husband and kids moved into his neighbourhood. An unlikely friendship developed between Anderson and Marisol. Their mutual love and respect for each other was like a ray of sunshine on a cold winter morning.
With her infectious energy and enthusiasm, Marisol brought some kind of happiness to his life. Thereby, she melted away the loneliness in the life of Anderson.
What did we like in this dramedy?
For all of us, it is an invigorating and refreshing human tale. In the end, this movie touched our hearts. It made us emotional – happy as well as sad. And some of us even shed a few drops of tears, while watching it. Well, as usual, Tom Hanks (as the protagonist) has been phenomenal. So, it came as no surprise that he has once again done an amazing acting job.
Bonus Info.:- In 2016, the original film - 'A Man Called Ove' (Swedish name ~ En man som heter Ove) was the highest-grossing foreign film in the United States. In fact, the said Swedish film was nominated for two Academy Awards (Oscar), including the Best Foreign Language Film of the Year.
The surprise package was the Mariana Trevino, he has done a great job as Marisol. The ensemble cast consists of Mack Bayda (Malcolm), Juanita Jennings (Anita), Cameron Britton (Jimmy), Rachel Keller (Sonya) et al. Its entire ensemble cast has done a commendable job in this movie.
Rita Wilson co-wrote the theme song “Til You’re Home” in this movie. Rita is the producer of this film and Tom Hanks’ wife. In addition, two singers Colombian Sebastián Yatra and Rita Wilson have sung the “Til You’re Home” song. We loved the heartwarming theme song “Til You’re Home” of this film.
