The Lincoln Lawyer series is a legal drama based on the novels penned by the American crime writer Michael Connelly. Interestingly, Lincoln is the luxury vehicle division in the USA.
So, the Lincoln Motor Company is the luxury vehicle division of a very well-known American automobile manufacturer Ford. So, the original novel series and this TV show get their names from the Lincoln vehicles, which incidentally work as the office space for the lawyer Mickey Haller (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo), the protagonist. Besides, travelling on his trademark Lincoln car, he also uses it for storing the paperwork pertaining to legal cases of his clients.

Inspired by books and bonus info. about it
Not so long ago, we shared an article about the Jack Ryan show, almost like a similar case, this series gets its stories from the novels. Besides, both of these shows have also been made into movies in the past. So, based on popular novels and movies, they have a dedicated set of fan followings as well as good brand recall value. Even in the age of artificial intelligence (AI), it is the latest to join such a bandwagon of entertainment shows from Hollywood which has a good history and is inspired by books.
Focus:- Bonus info. about the characters of Mickey and Harry The 2011 movie - Lincoln Lawyer (Matthew McConaughey) is based on the first Micheal "Mickey" Haller character's book with the same name. It was a 2005 novel by Michael Connelly. In the said novel, the LAPD Detective Hieronymus "Harry" Bosch (he also has a TV series Bosch, 2014-2021) is a half-brother of Los Angeles attorney Mickey Haller. Therefore, in Connelley's books, both the characters of Mickey and Harry often interact with each other.
About the first season of this show
When we talk about this show, its first season (with 10 episodes) is based on the second Mickey Haller novel “The Brass Verdict” a 2008 novel by Michael Connelly. In it, the hotshot but forgotten LA lawyer restarts his legal career, after he met with an accident. He was sidelined for a while after he became addicted to drugs. But, then the murder of Hollywood lawyer Jerry Vincent, gives Mickey an opportunity, as he inherits the practice as well as the clients of the said deceased lawyer.
About the second season of this show
Then, its second season is based on the novel “The Fifth Witness” by Michael Connelley. In this season, Mickey Haller is called on to defend a client, who is suspected of murdering a wealthy developer. In the fresh marketing stunt, Netflix has divided the second season into two parts, so we have shared their trailers here to give you an idea of its storyline. It seems that its two-part division is a part of their new marketing strategy.
What we liked and loved about this show
We loved the house (shot at a private home in L.A.’s Baldwin Hills) of the lawyer Mickey Haller shown in the show. It is another good-looking house with a great location and an amazing view. Even his half-brother Detective Bosch (in the Bosch show) lives in a wonderful house, which also boasts of great night (and day) time views to its occupants. Our team members have watched the Bosch series too and maybe in the future, we shall share our review of the same.
More about the lawyer Mickey Haller’s (Manuel Garcia-Rulfo) character
While watching this engaging drama, you might notice that in this legal drama series, the lawyer Mickey Haller often takes up an important and major criminal court case along with a bunch of smaller and somewhat petty cases. Somehow, the court cases help Mickey to network (and become a good friend) with the people who are resourceful and owe him a big favour for bailing them out when they are facing legal problems in their lives.
No wonder, he usually takes even the minor cases to keep himself going and stay sharp for his demanding clients entangled in the major court cases.
That’s part of his charming style or perhaps a payback to society.
We found both seasons to be entertaining and a complete time pass. Not to forget its funny scenes too, for instance, Mickey has saved the caller-id of his two ex-wives either as “First Wife” (Maggie McPherson) or as “Second Wife” (Lorna Crane) on his mobile phone, and even after their divorce, both the ladies still share a warm relationship with the Mickey Haller. Actor Manuel Garcia-Rulfo exudes cocky confidence as well as rare vulnerability while playing the leading role of the lawyer.
The conclusion
We believe this courtroom (and the relationship) drama will certainly keep you hooked and engaged. As the stories of almost all the characters have too much drama, to keep our interests alive. The ending of season two was once again a cliffhanger, with the death of an acquaintance of Mickey Haller. However, as of now, the Netflix network has not announced its third season, so let us wait and watch.
