The “Ricky Stanicky” is absurd yet a funny adult comedy. This 2024 film harkens back to a specific type of R-rated comedy that is less prevalent in today’s entertainment landscape.
Ricky (John Cena) serves as the moniker for a fictional persona created by three childhood friends, serving as a scapegoat for their transgressions spanning almost two decades.

Rating of the Ricky Stanicky (2024) Movie
FM Rating | 3.25/5 |
FM Short Comments | John Cena shines and even makes you smile and laugh, while he plays the role of the ridiculous “Ricky” in the film. Perhaps, his act is one of the key highlights of this outrageous wacky film. The other characters, Dean (Zac Efron), Wes (Jermaine Fowler), JT (Andrew Santino), etc pitched in too, but the movie belongs to John Cena. It is a silly and nutty time-pass film. |

Well, to repeat, you know the simple storyline
Three childhood best friends find themselves in a bind after a prank goes awry, leading them to create the fictional character “Ricky” as a scapegoat. Two decades later, Wes, Dean and JT still rely on Ricky as an excuse for their juvenile antics. However, when their significant others become suspicious and demand to meet Ricky, the trio enlists the help of a has-been actor and crude impersonator named “Rock Hard” Rod. As Rod fully embodies the role of Ricky, the friends soon regret ever conjuring up the imaginary friend.
What did we dislike in the film?
The basic idea of the film is a good one, however, we did not like the execution of the same. We did not like the first half of the script. In the first half of the film, many of the (both adult and non-adult) jokes/scenes did not manage to elicit a burst of proper laughter from us. In addition, we also disliked the R-rated (versions) of the lyrics of the various hit songs.
What did we like in the film?
Still, we carried on watching this adult comedy.
Thankfully, right after the arrival and the touch-down of the fictional “Ricky” (John Cena) in the lives of Dean (Zac Efron), Wes (Jermaine Fowler), JT (Andrew Santino), their friends and families, the film took off. The silly and crazy style of John Cena took centre stage in this comical film. We liked his amazing transformation in it. Soon after there were quite a few LOL (laughing out loud) moments in the film.
Surprisingly, we noticed that two of the actresses, viz., Heather Mitchell (in Love Me (2023) Series) and Lex Scott Davis (in Florida Man (2023) Series) whom we had seen earlier.
The conclusion
We liked its positive ending, as it ended on an upbeat and happy note for all the characters of the film. All in all, we watched this comedy film for John Cena and he did not disappoint.
Spoilers Alert – the ending of the film is explained below

- Ricky along with his new friends Dean, Wes, JT and others are cleaning up a bay in Rhode Island. They have become pro-environmental people.
- Carly aka Rapunzel gets rid of her excessively long hair and donates it to the kids who are patients in a Hospital.
- Wes writes his maiden book on Santa and Christmas.
- Ricky accompanied his new friends Dean, Wes, JT and their family members to visit the Dollywood family amusement park.
The concluding montage exhibits Rod’s impact, which proves to be beneficial for the almost entire ensemble cast of the film.
