The synopsis
Two Police Officers {Circle Inspector Jayashankar (Biju Menon) & Sub Inspector Karthik (Asif Ali)}, each with a history of being transferred as a form of punishment, start collaborating, showcasing their individual approaches and unique styles. In a setting rife with individuals pursuing their agendas and harbouring animosities, they adeptly manage the intra-departmental dynamics as they endeavour to solve a murder and apprehend the killer.

The movie director Jis Joy has created a realistic police drama set in the Indian state of Kerala. So, we get the delicious regional Malayalam flavour, starting with its unique theme music. Besides, we liked this movie’s screenplay, written by Jis Joy, Sharath Perumbavoor and Anand Thevarkad. Its captivating script has enough twists and turns to keep the audience hooked on this Indian police procedural drama. For most of the movie, this crime mystery has managed to keep the conspiracy angle well hidden. Moreover, the identities of the murderers and conspirators are concealed under a tight wrap, right till the very end.
Engaging acting performances by its ensemble cast
Both the leading actors Biju Menon (Circle Inspector Jayashankar) and Asif Ali (Sub Inspector Karthik) have done a wonderful job. They have played Indian cops with lots of panache and conviction. They indeed looked and behaved like real cops. In addition, we also liked the acting performances by the rest of the ensemble cast, viz., Kottayam Nazeer (CPO Reghu), Renjit Shekar (CPO Harris), Jaffer Idukki (Allappan), Miya George (Mrs Jayashankar), Anusree (Ramya), etc.

The conclusion
To conclude, we liked the Thalavan (2024) movie. It has a taut script. Besides, its actors have given wonderful performances. Then, came the cliffhanger ending. We were surprised by another murder at the end. No doubt, there is more to come in this crime tale. So, we were elated when we learnt that the creators of this movie have officially confirmed that a sequel, titled Thalavan 2, is underway.
