Core Theme
In Season 2 of The Night Agent, we are led to believe that both the agent Peter Sutherland (Gabriel Basso) and the new US President Richard Hagan (Ward Horton) seem to be compromised.
And perhaps a shady and powerful character, the Broker Jacob Monroe (Louis Herthum), holds the upper hand and controls both of them.
Now in Season 3 of The Night Agent, the elaborate conspiracy involving the US President Richard Hagan and the Power Broker Jacob Monroe is laid bare. But, not before taking us into another action-packed, thrilling journey into the heart of US politics, especially the funding of the Presidential Candidates during the elections. Notably, Peter is joined by Isabel De Leon (Genesis Rodriguez in the featured image), a journalist for The Financial Register, whose financial intellect actively assists him. Moreover, her high ethical and moral standards help Peter navigate the tough choices that he is forced to make.
In real life, too, many viewers might have come across news as to how some of the dodgy and dubious people (and organisations) are funding the politicians in the USA, of the two major political parties. And these people use the influential politicians to drive their own agenda.
It seems the politicians and their financial backers are deeply and very well embedded in the political system of the USA.
And it could be that the illicit money and the corruption are creating all sorts of problems for the nation and its people.
Plotline & Screenplay
The Night Agent, in its season 3, hides quite a few mysterious layers in this 10-part political conspiracy drama series.
In the first 10 minutes of Episode 1, a “Flight PIMA 12” with hundreds of American passengers is brought down over Venezuela by a terrorist organisation.
Deputy Director Aiden Mosley tells agent Peter that he was in the Director of National Intelligence meeting. And US President Hagan wants an answer and a target to go after after the missile attack on a passenger plane. In fact, the following directive from Mosley to Peter kick-starts his new mission.
“Two nights ago, Capital Police and then FBI responded to a gunshot at a D.C. apartment belonging to Jay Batra, a 28-year-old junior analyst at FinCEN. FBI found reason to believe Batra stole classified FinCEN intelligence. But not before killing his supervisor, Benjamin Wallace. We are not sure yet how important the intel he took is, but we would like to find out. But before we even knew to look for him, Jay Batra had fled the country. POTUS initiated the Night Action this morning.”
Aiden Mosley told Peter Sutherland
After Peter locates and brings back Jay Batra (Suraj Sharma ) to the United States after a transcontinental chase, he realises that many unforeseen dangers lie ahead of him. Actually, Peter begins to understand this more clearly than ever as he endeavours to trace stolen classified intelligence from the Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) and unravel a broader conspiracy that includes FinCEN, a terrorist group referred to as the L.F.S, Jacob Monroe, and potentially even the president of the United States.
Good Performances
✅ Actor Gabriel Basso plays the protagonist of The Night Agent, Peter Sutherland, quite competently, one more time. The character arc of the agent Parker has really grown in the latest Season 3, so much so that he has defied the (wrong) orders from his superiors and done the right thing.
✅Actress Genesis Rodriguez portrays the smart and idealistic reporter Isabel De Leon in this drama, which is indeed rare in this day and age of compromised values. We last saw Genesis in the Lioness series; now, here in this show, too, we liked her portrayal of a brave and upright journalist.
✅One of the most heart warming moment in this season was the depiction of a lovely father-son relationship. Both the actors, old Stephen Moyer (The Father) and young Callum Vinson (The Son), were excellent. It is indeed fascinating to watch the Professional Assassin in action.
✅Besides, we also appreciate the portrayal of the complicated relations between an estranged daughter and her guilt-ridden father in the show. The flashback also provided the depth and backstory to one of the main antagonists of the show, across the two seasons.
✅Last but not least, we also liked the performances of Louis Herthum (Jacob Monroe), David Lyons (Adam), Albert Jones (Aiden Mosley), Amanda Warren (Catherine Weaver), Suraj Sharma (Jay Batra), and others in this show.

Conclusion
Although we think that, with 10 episodes, The Night Agent is difficult to binge-watch. Still, keep a close eye on all the twists, turns, flashbacks and new characters that the show’s writers continue to throw at you. All of these in its script have only made it an engrossing and thrilling show to watch.

Spoiler Alert: Ending Explained
End of Season 3 & Peek into Season 4
After managing to get past the armed assassins, Peter manages to escort Freya to The Financial Register, where she candidly admits that the Hagans employed her shadow division at Walcott Capital for laundering the presidential campaign funds.
“If Congress and the US Department of Justice are interested in reaching an understanding with me, I would happily disclose everything I know about the Hagans and their criminal conduct.”
Freya tells Isabel in a live-streamed TV news interview
Later on, Freya is seen sipping a martini while a television behind the bar broadcasts a breaking news report stating that Hagan has pardoned himself and his wife before their Senate conviction. They have left the White House but have secured a new media deal.
As a result, the Hagans and Freya have all escaped unscathed.
Just when it appears that justice has not been served, that mysterious, unnamed assassin, whom Freya once contracted but never met, appears beside her. Following some light conversation with a fabricated accent, he offers to buy her a drink and seemingly introduces what looks like poison into it.
