Sky Rojo (Seasons 1, 2, & 3) Spanish series is about the tough women who bravely fight back against all odds. It is another Spanish drama from the creators of the popular Money Heist (La Casa De Papel) show. And, notably, the ‘Sky Rojo’ means ‘Red Sky’, and it is probably a hint towards its tale smeared in red.
So, before we proceed any further, please allow us to start with a few words of caution. It is a pulp fiction kind of action crime show from Spain. Therefore, it has an adult theme and content. No doubt, it peeks into the dark underbelly of human society – the inhuman world of prostitution.
As a result, sometimes the scenes involving sex and violence are difficult to watch. However, one cannot wish away the harsh realities of society.
This Spanish Pulp Fiction Is Targeted At The Adult Viewers

So, what is the central theme?
Well, the central theme of this series goes like this: “On the run from their pimp of Las Novias Club and his henchmen, three women {Carol (Verónica Sánchez), Wendy (Lali Espósito) and Gina (Yany Prado)} embark on a frantic journey in search of freedom.” As they fight for their freedom, they encounter scores of man-made troubles by their pimps. So, the basic question is, will they get their elusive freedom? As in this action-packed Spanish show, do these three wish to leave the deadly web of the prostitution racket?
Focus on the web of prostitution
The sexual exploitation of women and the consequent web of prostitution are widespread around the globe. Yet they continue to operate in a world dominated by money and profiteering that we live in. The cases of human trafficking and sophisticated modern-day slavery are on the rise around the world, as per the UN Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) reports. But in a male-dominated society, not many people are willing to put an end to it. Now, let us get back to the story of this series, which tries to entertain its viewers.
It is a story about Carol, Wendy and Gina
Forced by tragic circumstances, these three brave women, Carol, Wendy and Gina, are caught in the labyrinth of harlotry with no escape in sight. Yet, they bravely continue to dream of regaining their elusive freedom by using their tough and smart-minded approach against the cruel pimp and his powerful set of musclemen. More often than not, these pimps and henchmen behave most inhumanely with all the women caught in their web of prostitution. Even though these women are trapped in the quagmire of the thriving prostitution racket, these three women never give up on their lives and freedom.
They dream of better days that lie ahead of them.
Its three lead actresses are good
So, on one of those days, these bold women pick up arms to fight against their oppressors and gain their freedom to lead a normal life. The strong characters of Coral (Verónica Sánchez), Wendy (Lali Espósito) and Gina (Yany Prado) have been played in great style and demeanour by these attractive actresses.
The conclusion
We liked their high-adrenaline-inducing action sequences and never-say-die attitude in this show. Once again, we have to warn that some of the scenes in this show are explicit, brutal, gory, violent and difficult to watch. Sometimes they crossed the lines in this series. So, a word of caution is a must. It is not a family show; it is an adult show about the thriving prostitution racket and the dangerous pimps. If you are okay with all of these, then perhaps for you, it is a good show to watch. Otherwise, it is an okay crime show, with far too much of everything: violence, nudity, vulgarity, etc.

According to this Report, the most common form of human trafficking (79%) is sexual exploitation. The victims of sexual exploitation are predominantly women and girls. Surprisingly, in 30% of the countries that provided information on the gender of traffickers, women make up the largest proportion of traffickers. In some parts of the world, women trafficking women is the norm. The second most common form of human trafficking is forced labour (18%), although this may be a misrepresentation because forced labour is less frequently detected and reported than trafficking for sexual exploitation.
