The Flash brings the interesting tales of the superheroes and superheroines from the DC Comics. So, besides the Flash, we get Batman, Wonder Woman, Super Girl, and Aquaman.
It is based on the Flashpoint storyline of the DC world. In addition to the superheroes and superheroines mentioned above, the DC comics also have Superman, Green Lantern and Cyborg in their lineup. Notably, this film is the third adaptation to be based on the Flashpoint storyline after Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox (2013) animation movie and season 3 of The Flash (2014) series.
Synopsis of this 2023 DC’s Super-Heroes & Super-Heroines
Worlds collide in “The Flash” when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Superheroes to turn to.
That is unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?
Barry Allen uses his super speed to change the past, but his attempt to save his family creates a world without superheroes, forcing him to race for his life in order to save the future.
Spoiler-free review of The Flash (2023) movie
We never thought that we would enjoy this Sci-Fi fantasy movie so much. But we did. And we liked it. We came for the Flash and then we were treated with so many of them. It was a grand treat for the fans of the famous characters of the DC comic world. In this movie that deals with the concept of ‘Multiverse’, we liked so many of them, making their presence felt with their heroic acts.
Multiverse consists of multiple universes existing in the same physical space, kept separate by differing vibrational speeds. (as per the DC) Multiverse is a hypothetical collection of potentially diverse observable universes, each of which would comprise everything that is experimentally accessible by a connected community of observers. (as per the Britannica)
Its story & a flashback into the life of The Flash
Even though, this film is confirmed not to be an origin story of the Flash. So, in this film, we learn several elements about how Barry Allen (Ezra Miller) became the Flash. This movie’s flashback takes us back to his teenage years when he was struck by a bolt of lightning and thus, an extraordinary power is born inside him: The Speed Force. Consequently, he became The Flash, the young superhero.
In addition, Barry in an emotional act, uses this power to run and travel back in time, so that he can save his mother. While doing so, he creates a new world without superheroes and superheroines. Meanwhile, the villainous and dangerous General Zod has returned to destroy his world. So, to stop and defeat Zod, Flash’s only hope rests in the hands of a retired Batman, another Barry and an imprisoned Kryptonian – the Supergirl.
Bonus Info.: There was a revered bhagwan Hanuman (God) Poster in Barry's living room because his mother used to call him "mico" (a Spanish slang for "monkey").
So many, superheroes and superheroines in the film & the conclusion
In addition, we loved the fact we also got to see the human side of the superhero. The love and longing that the Flash feel for his missing mother is heartbreaking. This tale is about the human side of the meta-human. No doubt, it is a beautiful human story to watch. This film has a good mix of humour, comedy, action, and drama.
Spoilers about the missing Superhero in this film
In this line of superheroes (& superheroines) and their cameo (guest) appearances, we missed Superman. So, we tried to find out about it and this is what we learnt.
Superman (Henry Cavill) filmed a cameo as Superman, but it was cut after James Gunn’s new DC Universe was announced, and plans for Cavill’s return to the franchise were cancelled. He was paid $250,000 for the cameo.
With high-quality special effects, its filmmakers have created an amazingly imaginative fantasy world. It takes its viewers on an emotional journey into the life of the Flash. And it leaves an indelible imprint in our hearts and minds. This is one of the Top Ten Hollywood Movies Of 2023 Year, for the first half of this year. To conclude, go ahead and enjoy.
