Tiger 3 is the fifth and the latest Hindi spy movie from the YRF. It is riding high on the star powers of actors – Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Emran Hashmi to become a blockbuster.
So far, on day ten of its release, this Tiger 3 movie’s worldwide box office collection day has crossed ₹400 crore mark. As per YRF, it is the highest-grossing Diwali blockbuster in India.

So, what is the basic story of the film
The story of Tiger 3 is woven around the spies of India and Pakistan. In this contemporary spy tale – Tiger (Salman Khan) is an active spy (RAW agent) from India, meanwhile, his wife Zoya (Katrina Kaif) is a former spy (ISI agent) from Pakistan. Given the undercurrent and realities of the geo-political issues involving these two sparring neighbouring nations – India and Pakistan, complications in their marital life are bound to arise. And this is what happens, when framed as Enemy No. 1, Tiger hunts with vengeance to clear his name.

TIGER 3 (2023) is the fifth movie in Yash Raj Films' Spy Universe after first - EK THA TIGER (2012- Salman Khan & Katrina Kaif), second - TIGER ZINDA HAI (2017-Salman Khan & Katrina Kaif), third - WAR (2019 -Hrithik Roshan & Tiger Shroff) and fourth - PATHAAN (2023-Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone & John Abraham).
What we did not like in this film
We had seen similar kinds of story templates in almost all the YRF (Yash Raj Films) named above. Most of the spy stories thrive on unpredictability. However, this particular spy story is fairly predictable. There are not enough twists and turns to really keep us hooked and guessing. Their layered plotlines should have blown our minds off, but that did not happen.
Also, we have a feeling that this Hindi movie draws its inspiration from the popular Mission: Impossible movie franchise. For instance, the story of its antagonist Atish Rehman (Emraan Hashmi) in Tiger 3 film seems similar to that of Solomon Lane (Sean Harris), the arch nemesis of the hero Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise). There are quite a few similarities.
In addition, we believe that this kind of anti-terrorist thriller is becoming stale with each passing day. The further weakening of Pakistan’s economy might force them to change their strategies for low-intensity warfare. Besides, the realities of the geopolitical dynamics in the Indian sub-continent are changing rapidly in the fast-moving world. There are other nation/nations, which pose much greater threats to India.
Bonus info.:- TIGER 3 has a production budget of INR 3 billion (USD $35 million / approx. INR 300 crore), so as of 2023, it the most expensive film to star Salman Khan in the lead. Also, the YRF Spy Universe is now one of the biggest IP’s (intellectual property) in the history of Indian cinema and all the films in this franchise have been blockbusters.
These challenges come from the nations on the other side of the Himalayas as well as some distant nations in the West. Maybe their stories can be incorporated in future.
Still, we liked many other aspects of this film from India and the conclusion
There is no doubt that, in its style and content, Tiger 3 movie (from YRF Spy Universe films) is more like Hollywood spy movies. For instance, this Hindi film has high-octane action sequences of good quality almost similar to that of the Mission: Impossible film franchise. We liked the action scenes in this film. We also liked the cinematography in the film.
Both the leading actors – Salman Khan and Katrina Kaif have swagger. Their larger-than-life on-screen presence and good on-screen chemistry continue to attract the moviegoers in droves. Moreover, the addition of the actor Emraan Hashmi, who plays the film’s main antagonist, is a good step. In fact, this is the first time that Salman Khan and Emran Hashmi cast together, besides it is the first collaboration of Yash Raj Films with Emraan.
Bonus. info.:- Simran's character (P.M. Nasreen Irani) was modelled on former Pakistani minister Hina Rabbani. Simran's comeback to Hindi films. Revathi plays the Raw Chief Maithalli Menon in this film. In the previous Tiger movies, late Girish Karnad had essayed the role of the RAW Chief Shenoy. Thus, Tiger 3 will be a tribute to the after he died due to a health issue in 2019. In the post credit scene, we see Hrithik Roshan, as he appears in a Salman Khan film for first time. In a way it offered us a peek into his upcoming movie from the YRF Spy world.
All three – Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif and Emran Hashmi have done well in the film. In addition, we liked the work of Simran as well as Revathi, as they played the key characters.
And all of these surprising castings have worked well for the film.
Not to forget, like any other hit Hindi film, Tiger 3 also has a couple of good song-and-dance numbers in it. We have shared the YouTube links of two songs that we loved from this film.
