In the first “Den of Thieves” (2018) movie, we were treated to typical the cop versus the robbers drama playing out on the streets of LA. However, in the second one from this movie franchise, “Den of Thieves 2 Pantera” (2025) movie, Big Nick (Gerard Butler) operates outside the law in his quest to apprehend master thief Donnie (O’Shea Jackson Jr.) amidst a high-stakes diamond heist in Europe. So, the canvas of this action flick just got bolder and bigger. But this Hollywood movie has expected twists and turns. And we are sure that many viewers will find the plot predictable.
Boast of the international ensemble cast of good quality
Gerard Butler plays the hero cop Nicholas ‘Big Nick’ O’Brien, whereas O’Shea Jackson Jr. portrays the anti-hero robber Donnie Wilson ‘Jean-Jacques’ in the film. Both the characters (Big Nick and Donnie) play the cat-and-mouse game perfectly in the movie. We liked the fierce rivalry and intense competitiveness that existed between these two interesting people in the film. These two (protagonist and antagonist) are supported by a good ensemble cast belonging to different nationalities. Therefore, besides, English, we get to hear the movie-dialogues in French, Italian, Serbian, etc. Also, the quick wit and crispy one-liners (an example is shared below) kept us invested in this film.

Among the European cast, we have seen Salvatore Esposito (Slavko) and Evin Ahmad (Jovanna ‘Cleopatra’) play the lead roles in their respective series on the small screen in the recent past. Needless to say, these two portrayed their respective well too.
We last saw them playing the protagonist with a lot of style in their respective show: Salvatore Esposito in the Gomorrah (S1/2014 to S5/2021) Series and Evin Ahmad in the 'Who Is Erin Carter?' (2023) Series.
The Conclusion
Despite the predictability, we enjoyed this heist movie. Given the open-ended ending of this film, we are sure that we are going to see a few more movies from this “Den of Thieves” franchise. Till then, keep guessing the next big move that the cop “Big Nick” (Gerard Butler) is going to make in its future installments. Will he cross over? Or won’t he cross over to the other side of the law? We will have to wait and watch. However, one thing is sure, it is always fun to watch Gerard Butler in this kind of Hollywood commercial movie. So, enjoy this movie about high-end robberies.
