House Of The Dragon (2022) Series: Grand Fantasy Drama

Home » Series Review » House Of The Dragon (2022) Series: Grand Fantasy Drama

The “House of the Dragon” series is a grand fantasy drama. Based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood fantasy book, it narrates the tale of the legendary Aegon the Conqueror.

Aegon is the creator of the Iron Throne, so this fantasy series narrates the stories about the successive generations of the Targaryen dynasty. Thus, House Of The Dragon (HOD) traces the past family history of Queen Daenerys Targaryen. It is a prequel show and it is set nearly 200 years before the events of the Game of Thrones (GOT) show happened.

Introduction to the George R. R. Martin’s Fire & Blood book

Author Martin has described this book as the ultimate Game of Thrones. Thus he gave us (readers and viewers) a whole new appreciation for the fascinating history of Westeros.

We have a green light for a GAME OF THRONES successor show… not just a pilot, but a full season order for ten episodes. HOUSE OF THE DRAGON is the title of the new show, and needless to say, it will be centred on House Targaryen, set a couple of centuries before the events of A SONG OF ICE & FIRE and based upon Archmaester Gyldayn’s imaginary history FIRE & BLOOD.

George R. R. Martin (Author & Series Creator)

So, what is the basic plotline?

In House of the Dragon, there is enough conspiracy happening in the courts of these kings to keep you hooked. With so much tension and back-stabbing, it will make you wonder who is going to emerge victorious in this bloody war of succession. This series is like a classic see-saw affair between two childhood (female) friends, who now battle for supremacy as they enter adulthood. Even their children get sucked into the bloody succession battles.

HOD is a prequel to GOT

Also, if you have already watched Game of Thrones (GOT) and liked that fantasy show, then you will certainly enjoy this GOT prequel. All these masala ingredients make House of the Dragon a good series to watch. And add dragons to the mix of this intriguing fantasy story, this is a fascinating tale worth watching at least once. And we loved the Game of Thrones (GOT) series very much, except for its controversial last season and the dubious ending.

The conclusion

We hope that you all are going to keep a close eye on the Dragons in this fantasy series – House Of The Dragon (HOD) show. Imagine all those family dramas, you have seen so far, now add – Kings, Queens, Princes, Princesses and Dragons to their dramatic stories. The result is a chaotic melodrama like the House of the Dragon from the fantasy world of the ancient era. All hail the powerful fire-breathing dragons.

We loved it, the prequel HOD.
