House Of The Dragon (2022): Grand Fantasy Drama

House of the Dragon (HOD) is another grand fantasy drama TV series. It is based on George R.R. Martin’s Fire & Blood fantasy book. The Fire & Blood book narrates the tale of the legendary Aegon the Conqueror.

Aegon is the creator of the Iron Throne, so this fantasy series narrates the stories about the successive generations of the Targaryen dynasty. Thus, HOD traces the past family history of Queen Daenerys Targaryen. This American series is a prequel show and it is set nearly 200 years before the events of the Game of Thrones (GOT) series happened.

House Of The Dragon (2022) Series:- synopsis

The House of the Dragon series is based on the ‘Fire & Blood’ book. It is the first volume of the definitive two-part history of the Targaryens in Westeros.

It is about an internal succession war within House Targaryen at the height of its power, 172 years before the birth of Daenerys Targaryen.

House Of The Dragon (2022) Series:- a brief review

In House of the Dragon, there is enough conspiracy happening in the courts of these kings to keep you hooked. With so much tension and back-stabbing, it will make you wonder who is going to emerge victorious in this bloody war of succession. This series is like a classic see-saw affair between two childhood friends, who now battle for supremacy as they enter adulthood. Even their children get sucked into the succession battles.

Also, if you have already watched Game of Thrones (G.O.T.) and liked that fantasy show, then you will certainly enjoy this G.O.T. prequel. All these masala ingredients make House of the Dragon a good series to watch. And add dragons to the mix of this intriguing fantasy story, this is a fascinating tale worth watching at least once. And we loved the Game of Thrones (G.O.T.) series very much, with the exception of its controversial ending.

We hope that you all are going to keep a close eye on the Dragons in this fantasy series – House Of The Dragon (H.O.D.) show. Imagine all those family dramas, you have seen so far, now add – Kings, Queens, Princes, Princesses and Dragons to their dramatic stories. The result is a chaotic melodrama like the House of the Dragon from the fantasy world of the ancient era.

All hail the powerful fire-breathing dragons. We loved it – the H.O.D. along with the G.O.T. of the past.

Focus:- author R. R. Martin of Fire & Blood

Author George R. R. Martin has described – ‘Fire & Blood’ as the ultimate Game of Thrones, thereby giving us readers (and viewers) a whole new appreciation for the bloody and fascinating history of Westeros.

We have a green light for a GAME OF THRONES successor show… not just a pilot, but a full season order for ten episodes. HOUSE OF THE DRAGON is the title of the new show, and needless to say, it will be centred on House Targaryen, set a couple of centuries before the events of A SONG OF ICE & FIRE and based upon Archmaester Gyldayn’s imaginary history FIRE & BLOOD.

Focus:- on the Dragons in the series

Well, as the name of this fantasy series suggests the Dragons are key characters in this story. So, allow us to tell you about the various dragons which have been introduced in season one of this series.

  • Syrax – ridden by Rhaenyra, it is a golden yellow she-dragon.
  • Caraxes – ridden by Daemon, it is a red dragon.
  • Seasmoke – ridden by Laenor Velaryon, son of Corlys Velaryon and Rhaenys Targaryen; it is a grey-white dragon.

Then there are other dragons, which have been mentioned.

  • Balerion The Black Dread – Aegon the Conqueror’s dragon, now deceased. It was last ridden by King Viserys. Balerion’s skull is housed in the Red Keep, surrounded by flaming candles.
  • Vhagar – a she-dragon from the time of the Conquest. It is currently believed to be living wild somewhere on the coast of the Narrow Sea.
  • Dreamfyre – a she-dragon. An egg laid by her was chosen by Rhaenyra for the cradle of her newborn brother, Baelon. The same egg was later stolen by Daemon for his future heir but was retrieved by Rhaenyra. No further details about Dreamfyre are currently known to us.
