With this latest 2024 Hindi movie, its entire team has tried hard to live up to the magic of the original 2021 film. So, here is the review of the sequel of this romantic thriller film.

The synopsis/summary
Rani Kashyap (Taapsee Pannu), now living in Agra, is staying as a paying guest, while Rishab aka Rishu Saxena (Vikrant Massey) has taken on the alias of Ravi Varma. Then, the unplanned arrival of Abhimanyu Pandit (Sunny Kaushal) made the lives of Rani and Rishu difficult. In addition, the re-appearance of the senior police official Kishore Rawat (Aditya Srivastava) and the appearance of another police official Mrityunjay Paswan aka Monty (Jimmy Shergill) further add layers of difficulty for both Rani and Rishu.
These police officials are still carrying out the murder investigation involving Rani and Rishu from their past lives.
To convey the central theme of this movie, they have used "Ek Haseena Thi Ek Deewana Tha" song from the Karz (1980) movie. It was sung by Kishore Kumar and Asha Bhosle.
Besides, Agra city is facing numerous issues, including a failing barrage, severe floods, and an unusual appearance of crocodiles in the Yamuna River. Despite all kinds of challenging circumstances, Rishu and Rani are striving to remain unnoticed as they devise their plan for a hopeful future. As they attempt to elude law enforcement in Agra, Rani and Rishu formulate a plan to abscond together. Yet, when their efforts do not succeed, Rani seeks the aid of a kind-hearted admirer Abhimanyu Pandit.
Will they manage to slip past the police officials once again?
This crime tale has a twisted storyline but
In the original “Haseen Dillruba” movie, the writer Kanika Dhillon was able to awe and shock the viewers, with its twisted storyline. This original movie was well-liked by both the masses as well as critics, and it became a hit. Not surprisingly, in the latest “Phir Aayi Hasseen Dillruba” movie, once again writer Kanika has tried to use a similar template to the crime drama.
But, almost all the sub-plots, twists and turns seemed predictable, because many of us knew the ending of this tale, right at the beginning of the movie. So, every event that happened in this latest movie somehow helped the original leading pair of Rani and Rishu. And, the way this film has an open ending finale, we can see this “Haseen Dillruba” movie become a movie franchise. Therefore, in the future, we might see, both Rani and Rishu embark on new criminal activities in a new town, with police hot in pursuit.
Vikrant Massey and Taapsee Pannu impressed us, once again
We liked the lead romantic pair of Vikrant Massey (Rishabh Saxena) and Taapsee Pannu (Rani Kashyap) in this film. To be honest, initially, we thought their on-screen pairing was an unusual choice. But, in these two films, they have worked hard to portray the lovers who are madly in love with each other. And they are willing to go to any distance for their love. No wonder, their raw and passionate love impressed us, once again.
In the recent past, we reviewed the 12th Fail (2023) movie, in which Vikrant Massey played the role of the protagonist with a lot of conviction and heart. Now, in complete contrast, Vikrant Massey plays a lovesick Rishu convincingly. Not only does Taapsee Pannu look ravishing (Hasseen) but she portrays his love (Dillruba), Rani in captivating ways.
The ensemble cast is led by Sunny Kaushal (Abhimanyu), Jimmy Shergill (Mrityunjay Paswan aka Monty), Aditya Srivastava (Kishore Rawat), Bhumika Dube (Poonam), etc.
We liked these supporting characters in the film.
It is admirable that despite so many distractions by these folks (as we mentioned in the above paragraph) the love and bond between Rishu and Rani remained true and eternal.
The conclusion
The film director Jayprad Desai has smartly used the “Taj Mahal” monument to convey the message of the everlasting love of Rishu and Rani. Both of them experienced so many ups, downs and upheavals in their relationship, but their true love and mutual respect stood the test of time. However, Jayprad and Kanika could not recreate the charm of the original. Still, despite everything, it is a good time-pass movie.
