Fast X (USA/2023) Movie:- {Spoilers Free} review
The latest Fast X (2023) movie is the tenth film in the Fast & Furious cinematic saga. It introduces us to the first part of the final chapters of the Fast & Furious movie franchise. Finally, it seems that this action-adventure tale with the same core cast and characters is going to end, sooner rather than later. You know, already two decades have gone by since the release of its first movie – The Fast and The Furious way back in 2001 from the said franchise.
And all along watching the movies from this franchise has been a real roller coaster ride. Yet, many of us have enjoyed this Fast & Furious ride, as we head towards sunset.
In this movie, almost like a Phoenix, Dante Reyes (Jason Mamoa) rises and comes back to life as the powerful antagonist – the proverbial destroyer-in-chief. You know, Dante means “steadfast” or “enduring”, as it is an Italian name derived from the Latin Durante. So, in this film, Dante takes over the reins with his dynamic and larger-than-life presence in this movie. I think Jason Mamoa (as Dante) is a good addition to the franchise and he adds great value with his strong screen presence.
On the other hand, Dominic, the principal protagonist of the Fast & Furious movie franchise is challenged and pushed into a corner by his formidable enemy Dante. You know, Dominic is a male name common among Roman Catholics and other Latin Romans, as it is derived from the original Roman-Italic name of “Dominicus”, which means “Lordly”, “Belonging to God” or “of the Master”.
Not surprising that one of the mind-blowing action sequences in Fast X film took place in the city of Rome in Italy, against the historical backdrop of the Colosseum of Rome. This Colosseum is famous for staging brutal battles among the gladiators. In addition, there are quite a few amazing places and beautiful locations, where the shooting of its mind-blowing action scenes were filmed, viz., Rome (Via Cristoforo Colombo, Via dei Fori Imperiali, Ponte Umberto I, Spanish Steps, etc.), Turin (Piazza Crimea, Murazzi del Po, Via Roma, etc.), Naples, Rio de Janeiro, Aldeadávila Dam in Spain/Portugal border, et al. The action sequences filmed here were awe-inspiring.
In short, we can say, that this film is a full-blown fight between two gladiators – Dominic and Dante. Both are equipped with all kinds of modern-day technology, gadgets, arms and artilleries. Now who will emerge victorious in this life-threatening battle for survival is a million-dollar question. This film does not answer this question, as it leaves us (the viewers) with a cliffhanger of an ending. Only the next part of the final chapter will reveal, what happens to Dante and Dominic in the end.
So, go ahead and watch this Fast X film – an insane revenge tale and an adrenaline-pumping action-adventure saga. Another positive aspect of this movie is that most of its action sequences are shot in beautiful locations. To conclude, I liked the Fast X movie and can’t wait for its next chapter, to find out the ending of this action-packed Fast & Furious saga. This film has certainly whetted my appetite for swashbuckling adventure films.
Oh yes!
Fast X (USA/2023) Movie:- {Spoilers Alert} key characters & ending explained
Focus on Dante and the ending of this movie explained
In this Fast X (2023) film, we are given a backstory of Dante. So, in the Fast Five (2011), not only did Dominic and his friends bring down the infamous Brazilian drug kingpin Hernan Reyes and his drug business, but they also killed him on a bridge in Rio De Janeiro. All of these events were witnessed by Herman Reyes’ son, Dante Reyes (Jason Momoa), thus, for the better part of the last 12 years, he planned in amazing detail to take down Dominic, family, friends and acquaintances by all means. Dante wishes that Dominic must pay the ultimate price as he did with the killing of his father Hernan.
To execute his elaborate plans, Dante spreads thin Dominic’s family (and friends) from Los Angeles to Rome, from Brazil to London and from Portugal to Antarctica. We are introduced to new characters as well as old characters, as the new allies are found and the old enemies reappear in the Fast X film. At the end of this movie, Dominic realizes that his own 8-year-old son Brian (Leo Abelo Perry) is the ultimate target of Dante’s retribution.
In the cliffhanger ending scene of the Fast X film, we find that Dominic and his young son Brian are precariously close to death at Aldeadávila Dam (Spain/Portugal border), as they try to survive the audacious attacks launched by Dante, as he blows up the dam, thereby sending a rushing wave of water towards Dominic and Brian. Besides, Dante has also shot down the aeroplane carrying Roman (Tyrese Gibson), Tej (Ludacris) and Ramsey (Nathalie Emmanuel) – the friends of Dominic.
Both Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) and Cipher (Charlize Theron) are still stuck in Antarctica, as they walk through the thick layer of snow and icy cold water when suddenly the once-dead character Gisele (Gal Gadot) emerges with a rescue submarine.
And in the post-credits scene, a covert government agent discovers one of Dante’s hideouts. It appears that this masked agent shot dead Hernan Reyes after the deadly car accident on the bridge in Rio de Janeiro in the Fast 5 film. Then the said agent takes off his face mask to reveal that agent Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) has actually killed the father of Dante Reyes. So, undoubtedly Hobbs along with Dominic (friends/family) is on Dante’s hit list.
In this Fast X film, Dante has pushed Dominic, his family, friends and acquaintances to the brink of destruction and annihilation. And for the first time, Dominic is always a step behind, as Dante takes complete control and emerges as the winner in the Fast X film. For Dante, it has taken more than a decade long period to come up with a detailed plan to execute and exact his vengeance on Dominic. Dante certainly enjoyed the first mover’s advantage in this film.
In the next part of Fast X film, however, we are certain that Dominic (family/friends/acquaintances) will fight back. Then we will know who will emerge victorious in this epic battle of modern-day gladiators – Dante or Dominic.
Till then, hold tight, keep your fingers crossed and wait for its next chapter, the conclusion, perhaps!
