The introduction

We think in a way, it is the contemporary version of “Amar Akbar Anthony(1977) Film” with a strange and modern-day twist. This film has three lead characters – Ahana Singh (Ananya Panday), Imaad Ali (Siddhant Chaturvedi) and Neil Pereira (Adarsh Gourav), who are childhood friends. It seems that they have grown up together in a school hostel. This movie is a nostalgic trip into the past when social harmony reigned supreme in this nation.

Nowadays, in the age of religious polarization, such instances of friendship are getting rarer. As conservatism and intolerance continue to take deeper roots in Indian society.

The digital age dominates its story

In this film, these three best friends juggle their complicated lives as 20 years-somethings in the city of dreams – Mumbai. In this digital age of social media and online dating apps, their ambition, careers, romance, heartbreak and relationships suffer. Most of the time, these Gen-Z youngsters are hooked onto their mobile screens. We regret not sharing the story of the film here, as we do not wish to spoil it for you. However, we have shared an interesting bit from its tale below in the spoilers. You can check that out.

It is an interesting take on how the digital age has taken (almost complete) charge of people’s lives. Thus, digital addiction is controlling many people’s thoughts and behaviour.

We loved the story about the Generation Z of Mumbai, India

The content of the story is relatable to the youngsters of India. More so, if they are addicted to the world of digital mediums like – Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, Tinder, X, etc. So, this film has youngsters with new upcoming careers, viz., a stand-up comedian (Imaad), a gym trainer (Neil), and a social media influencer (Lala). All of them are trying to make it big in life, both in their career as well as love life. But there are a few hurdles. And there are quite a few teachable moments in this coming-of-age dramatic story.

It is an honest and refreshing take on the lives many of the youngsters are leading. As the traditional jobs have shrunk in numbers. However, new career options are coming up.

An impressive bunch of young actors

We are familiar with the great acting talent of Adarsh Gourav (Neil Pereira), whom we have seen in the Guns & Gulaabs (2023) Series recently. But, we were watching the acting of the other two actors – Ananya Panday (Ahana Singh) and Siddhant Chaturvedi (Imaad Ali) for the first time. All three of them – Ananya, Adarash and Siddhant have impressed us with their natural performances. Their friendship and on-screen chemistry seemed relatable.

Their love interests are played by Kalki Koechlin (Simran Kohli), Rohan Gurbaxani (Rohan Bhatia), and Anya Singh (Lala). All the actors in the film have played their roles impressively.

The film music is peppy and young

The song “I wanna see you dance” is our favourite of its lot, as it is perfect to welcome the upcoming New Year 2024. Surely, we would be dancing and grooving to this song, tonight.

The rest of the songs in this movie album are also pleasing to our ears. Their lyrics and music convey the range of emotions in this movie about love and romance.
