Extraction 2 film is the second part of the Extraction movie franchise from its North American producers. The story of this movie is set in Australia and different countries in Europe, as it deals with its protagonist’s story.
This Extraction 2 movie is a sequel to the first film Extraction movie, which was based on the graphic novel ‘Ciudad’ from a story by Ande Parks, writer/directors Joe Russo & Anthony Russo, with illustrations by artist Fernando León González. Back from the brink of death, highly skilled commando Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) takes on another dangerous mission: saving the imprisoned family of a ruthless gangster. Thus, after barely surviving the events of the first Extraction movie, Tyler Rake is back as the Australian black ops mercenary, tasked with another deadly mission: rescuing the battered family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they are being held. Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) is the protagonist in this fast-moving enthralling In the Extraction movie franchise. So, in the Extraction (2020) film, Tyler Rake’s mission was to save the son of an incarcerated Indian drug lord. His kidnapped son was held hostage somewhere in Bangladesh. As its story was set in India and neighbouring Bangladesh the Extraction movie was a big hit in the Indian subcontinent.
At that time, I liked the very well-choreographed action and stunt scenes shot in various locations in India, Bangladesh and Thailand.

Now in this latest Extraction 2 (2023) film, even after narrowly escaping death in Extraction (2020) film, Tyler Rake cannot rest, relax and stretch out in peace. Instead, Tyler Rake must rescue the family of a ruthless Georgian gangster from the prison where they’re being held in this new dangerous mission. To complete this difficult task in this film, Tyler must confront his past and obligations to his family.
So, it tells the backstory of Tyler Rake in this film. Also, with its tale set in different countries of Europe, Tyler Rake and his small team of Nik Khan (Golshifteh Farahani) and Yaz Khan (Adam Bessa) face new formidable adversaries and a fresh set of herculean challenges. After watching this film, I have no doubt, that Chris Hemsworth along with his co-stars Golshifteh Farahani, Adam Bessa, Daniel Bernhardt and Tornike Gogrichiani have done a good job in this edge-of-seat action thriller.
But the big question remains – did Tyler and his friends Nik and Yaz survive in the end?
That is the mystery that you have to find, as I do not wish to spoil it for you all here.

In this movie, Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) is approached by a mysterious man named Alcott (Idris Alba) to extract the woman Ketevan Radiani (Tinatin Dalakishvili) along with her two children – Nina Radiani (Marta Kovziashvili) and Sandro Radiani (Andro Japaridze) from the notorious prison controlled by a powerful gangster family in Georgia. Interestingly, the woman prisoner Ketevan is the sister of Mia, the ex-wife of Tyler Rake. Therefore, because of personal family reasons, Tyler Rake takes up the challenging mission of their extractions.
Once again, Tyler Rake and his team manage to complete the dangerous mission. At the end of the movie, Tyler Rake is offered another extraction mission by Alcott, which is going to be the story of the Extraction 3 movie.
Nik Khan (Golshifteh Farahani) and Yaz Khan (Adam Bessa) are the manager-cum-friends of Tyler Rake (Chris Hemsworth) in this film. The brother and sister duo of Nik and Yaz fights alongside Tyler with the Georgian gangsters. Sadly, in one of the epic fight scenes with the Gangsters, Yaz gets mortally wounded and succumbs to the injuries. So, in the upcoming Extraction 3 movie, we will be seeing more actions from Tyler Rake and Nik Khan.

Don’t forget to watch these two thrilling films. I have seen Extraction (2020) as well as the recently released Extraction 2 (2023) movies, I must admit that it is a worthy and perhaps an even better sequel to the original first film. I liked Chris Hemsworth (Tyler Rake) and Golshifteh Farahani (Nik Khan) in the Extraction 2 film. In fact, both the Extraction films are edge-of-seat action thrillers. Do watch them if you are an action-film buff and enjoy.
