Mayor of Kingstown series depicts the disturbing aspect of a North American town. What happens when society fails and crumbles? Then chaos reigns supreme.

Like the proverbial termites, the all-pervading corruption has taken over almost all the critical wings of a local government in a city. In this tale, the streets of Kingstown are infested with crime, drugs, gun culture, prostitution, etc. With the police and the justice system not helping much in cleaning up the mess, life is tough and depressing.

Spoilers free brief review (S1/2022)

It tells a compelling story about the nexus among politicians, power brokers, police officials, jail authorities, private sector players, criminals, et al. This is a dark and gritty tale about the systemic racism, corruption and inequality in contemporary American society divided between Whites and Blacks.

It is not easy to view at all.

However, if you can look past its gloominess and hellishness, then it is a captivating story about the blurred lines of morality; wherein lots of grey areas exist between the law and lawlessness.

And mind you justice is elusive in this town. That is the harsh reality of the contemporary world that we all live in.

Season two of the Mayor of Kingstown series

Synopsis/Summary (S2/2023)

This show follows the McLusky family (Jeremy Renner & other family members) — power brokers in Kingstown, Michigan where the business of incarceration is the only thriving industry. Tackling themes of systemic racism, corruption and inequality, the series provides a stark look at their attempt to bring order and justice to a town that has neither.

Spoilers free brief review (S2/2023)

The violence and mayhem of this series continued in season two, yet we carried on watching this captivating thriller drama. However, we wonder if it is a work of fiction or probably a slice of the bleak reality of a decaying society in America. The rampant crime and corruption shown in this series are a little too much for our palate, so these are hard to digest for us.

Despite all the negativities, we maintain that this series should be watched at least once.

As it paints very dark and bleak scenarios for society. Which incidentally is the harsh reality.

Maybe we (viewers) all need to understand and appreciate the what-if scenarios – leading us towards anarchy. In case we and our modern society continue down the same path.

James Croot / Rotten TomatoesLikely to be a little too gloomy for the Yellowstone crowd and not quite weighty enough for avid crime drama aficionados, this show is nonetheless well worth seeking out.

Our final take & conclusion

It tells a dark story about contemporary society. And we are sure that crime and corruption have afflicted almost all societies around the world. Some societies are ready to reflect and take remedial measures to improve. While many other societies continue to ignore the oblivious signs of disintegration and deterioration.

It is a fact, that some of these people crazily welcome the corruption and inequality in their society. All these are only leading us towards anarchy like Kingstown town.

So, reflect and think hard.

Seriously.

Perhaps Mayor of Kingstown is based on real life Kingston township in Canada, North America. This town is also known as the prison town of Canada, as it has nine prisons located in the vicinity of this town.
