A Good Person (2023) Movie:- brief review
One accident can change the course of many people’s life. This is what we learned in this pain-filled story about the lives of three people belonging to three different generations.
The first key character of this dramatic film is a young woman named Allison (Florence Pugh) whose world falls apart when she survives an accident, but she cannot escape the overriding guilt of her fault. The second important character is an elderly and retired cop Daniel (Morgan Freeman), who loses his only married daughter in the same freaking accident. Lastly, the third vital character is a young schoolkid Ryan (Celeste O’Connor), who loses her mom in the same accident. So, she had to move in with her grandfather Daniel.
This kind of unimaginable tragedy puts a heavy burden on the lives of not only the three characters mentioned herein but also the people closely related to both the families of Allison and Daniel.
Their respective lives were turned upside down, right in the blink of an eye.
Unable to cope with the feeling of unfathomable pain and depthless remorse, Allison became an opioid addict. Her mother Diane (Molly Shannon) tries hard to make her unresolved pain and opioid addiction go away, but she fails. Allison continued to travel along the downward spiral. Then, somewhere along the story, the lives of these two grieving souls – Allison and Daniel meet in a chance encounter.
Soon after, Allison forms an unlikely friendship with Daniel as well as Ryan. This emotional tale is all about seeking forgiveness, starting a process of healing, moving on with life, rebuilding and reliving it again.
The three of them save each other.
Thanks to the strength of its two excellent performers – Florence Pugh and Morgan Freeman. Also, their captivating acting was ably supported by Celeste O’Connor, Molly Shannon and others.
When this movie depicted the pain and sufferings of its lead characters, as a viewer, I only wished for some kind of closure and salvation for them. Some kind of happy ending for all three of the notable characters mentioned above. Thankfully, they all got a second chance in their lives. And I liked this kind of positivity in people’s lives. No doubt, I found this to be an inspirational and heartwarming film about human values.
This film mostly worked for me, so go ahead and watch this sad tear-jerker movie and maybe you will end up feeling better about your own life. Well, I am just kidding. But, I reiterate, it is an uplifting movie.
