The Veil is an international spy thriller. In this espionage show, Elisabeth Moss plays the protagonist, Imogen Salter, a British Spy, who is trying to stop a deadly terrorist attack.
Although this show originated in the USA, the show’s creator is Steven Knight (of Peaky Blinders series fame) from Britain. In addition, this spy story is based in different European nations, so we have put it under the European series. This is done purely for our convenience’s sake.

The storyline/synopsis/summary
The plot of the spy thriller delves into the complex relationship between two women Imogen Salter (Elisabeth Moss) and Adilah El Idrissi (Yumna Marwan) entangled in a dangerous game of truth and falsehood. As one of them holds a clandestine truth, the other is resolute in her quest to unveil it and avert the potential loss of countless lives of innocent people. Working in secrecy, the spy mission controllers from the U.S. CIA and French DGSE must overcome their differences and cooperate to prevent a disaster from occurring.
We wish to tell you more about its story, but that will spoil your viewing pleasure. However, we have shared the official summary of its six episodes in the spoilers below.
What did we like in the show?
Well, it explores the conspiracy to destabilize the Western world by some non-state rogue actors. The story moves at a frenetic across different cities and nations of Europe. And we liked this fast-paced storytelling. Moreover, we also liked the on-screen friendship between two women Imogen Salter (Elisabeth Moss) and Adilah El Idrissi (Yumna Marwan) in the show. Their complex (mistrust-trust or hate-love) relationship is the cornerstone of this spy show. And we believe that both the actress Elisabeth and Yumna have given a fairly decent performance. Both of them kept us engaged and invested in this spy drama.
What did we not like in the show?
While watching this show, one could feel that lead actress Elisabeth Moss does not sound like a British. Some viewers may not like her non-British accent, even though she plays a British secret agent. Moreover, it seems that Elisabeth was perhaps let down by a muddled script line in the last couple of episodes. What a waste of her incredible acting talent. It was underwhelming to see the smart and powerful Imogen Slater (Elisabeth Moss) melt while facing the antagonist in the show.
We liked the first half of this spy tale, especially in the first couple of episodes. But then the muddled plotline and uneven content pulled it down. However, we did not like the surprising twists and not-so-surprising turns in this spy drama. This series promised much but faltered in delivery. Furthermore, it seems that historical paranoia and mutual distrust among nations continue to drive the predictable storyline of spy tales. Moreover, to be completely honest, we did not like the last episode of this series, and the tragic turn that its story took.

The conclusion
Maybe the makers of this series have wasted a good opportunity to tell us a much more realistic spy tale set in today’s era. However, after we finished watching this bumpy drama, we realised that the spy character Imogen Slater (Elisabeth Moss) might make a comeback in the future. Given the way, the first season finale ended. Hopefully, its makers will tighten the script for its upcoming season. Till then, you can watch and find out the truth hiding behind the veil.
